ORANJESTAD (AAN): A Pos Abao Drunk Driver Arrest After Crashing Into Light Pole incident was reported early Sunday morning at approximately 4:03 a.m., after authorities received information about a traffic accident in the Pos Abao area.

Police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the incident involved a female driver operating a Hyundai Accent. According to preliminary findings, the driver was traveling upward along the roadway when she lost control of the vehicle, veered off to the right side of the road, and collided directly with a street light pole.

The impact was described as strong, causing visible damage to the vehicle and the light pole. Despite the force of the collision, the driver did not sustain any visible physical injuries. Officers quickly assessed the situation to ensure there were no additional passengers or other vehicles involved in the crash.

During their interaction with the driver, police immediately suspected intoxication. Officers conducted an on-site sobriety assessment, which revealed that the driver was heavily under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses and officers noted that she was extremely intoxicated, struggling to maintain her balance and barely able to stand on her own feet.

Given the severity of her condition, authorities proceeded with her detention. The Pos Abao Drunk Driver Arrest After Crashing Into Light Pole case is now under investigation, and the driver is expected to face charges related to driving under the influence and reckless driving.

Police also secured the accident scene to prevent further danger, as the damaged light pole posed a potential hazard to other motorists. Traffic in the area was temporarily affected while authorities documented the scene and arranged for vehicle removal.

Drunk driving remains a serious concern across Aruba, especially during late-night and early-morning hours when social gatherings and nightlife activities are common. Law enforcement continues to urge drivers to act responsibly and avoid operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities remind the public that driving while intoxicated not only endangers the driver but also puts pedestrians and other road users at significant risk. Incidents like the Pos Abao Drunk Driver Arrest After Crashing Into Light Pole highlight the importance of making safe transportation choices.

Fortunately, this accident did not result in injuries. However, police emphasize that similar incidents could easily lead to far more serious consequences.

The investigation remains ongoing.
