The parliamentary representatives from the Kingdom countries began their IPKO (Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation) meetings today, where they will engage in intensive discussions aimed at bringing the countries closer together, as President of the Parliament of Curacao, Fergino Brownbill, expressed during an interview after the arrival of the Curacao delegation in Aruba.
Brownbill elaborated on several agenda points for IPKO 2026, including the geopolitical developments between Venezuela and Mercosur, and the opportunities this creates for the Kingdom countries in the Caribbean as well as Holland. He emphasized that, despite the geopolitical shifts in Venezuela, particularly the outflow of people from the country, it is crucial to look ahead at the potential benefits a prosperous Venezuela could offer to the Kingdom nations.
Brownbill highlighted the importance of Curacao’s role due to its strategic location and oil storage capabilities, which can play a vital part in the opportunities being opened by Mercosur. Curacao has already opened up opportunities for oil storage, making it an essential partner in regional economic development.
On the topic of education, especially for students wishing to study abroad, Brownbill pointed out that the geopolitical developments in the region could also have an impact on education. He emphasized the necessity for collaboration between all the Kingdom countries, with IPKO being the platform to facilitate this cooperation.
“This is an important topic, but there are many others we can collaborate on, which is why it remains a central part of the IPKO 2026 and Tripartite agendas,” said President of the Parliament of Curacao, Fergino Brownbill.
Additionally, Brownbill emphasized the importance of ongoing projects such as the San Nicolas building renovation DAS, which highlights the commitment of the Kingdom countries to improve infrastructure and ensure long-term economic and social benefits. The San Nicolas building renovation DAS is a key example of how collaboration and shared resources can lead to the betterment of the community and the region.
