Lago Heights Park Development Receives Additional Funding from Aruba Government

ORANJESTAD (AAN) – This week, CEDE Aruba is pleased to announce that the Aruba government, under the leadership of Minister of Education and Sports, Mr. Gerlien Croes, has approved an additional 170,000 Florins for the Lago Heights Park Development. With this decision, the total project budget has been secured.

The realization of Lago Heights Park Development is made possible through strong collaboration between local and international partners. Funding for the project has been secured through contributions from CEDE Aruba (co-financer and coordinator), Stichting Jantje Beton (Netherlands), Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) via the Dutch Representation in Aruba, Curaçao, and St. Maarten (VNACS), and the Aruba government. Together, these partners have ensured full financial coverage for the project and have demonstrated a shared commitment to invest in safe, inclusive, and high-quality public spaces for children and communities in Aruba.

The approval allows the project to proceed into its final implementation phase. Construction and installation activities are scheduled from March to May 2026, in close collaboration with local contractors, public authorities, and project partners. Preparatory work and key elements have already been acquired and completed.

In preparation for implementation, CEDE Aruba will organize a public stakeholder meeting on February 25, 2026, at the YMCA in San Nicolás. This meeting will bring together residents, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders who have contributed to the co-creation process. Participants will have the opportunity to view the final design, receive updates on the implementation planning, and explore collaboration opportunities for community activities, events, and long-term park maintenance.

Lago Heights Park Development is envisioned as a shared public space that supports the development of children, strengthens community life, and promotes active use by families and schools. CEDE Aruba looks forward to continued collaboration with the Aruba government, project partners, and the San Nicolás community to ensure the successful realization and sustainable use of the park.
