FADA Invites Insurance Companies to Take an Active Role in “Don’t Drink and Drive” Campaign

ORANJESTAD (AAN): The year 2026 has begun with several serious traffic accidents on Aruba’s roads, many of which are related to alcohol consumption. This has raised major concerns about public safety and highlighted the urgent need for stronger awareness programs and, potentially, stricter measures.

In a recent interview with DIARIO, Ms. Rubiella Toppenberg of the Fundacion Anti Droga Aruba (FADA) stated that the awareness campaign BAR – “Bo Amigo Responsabel” (Your Responsible Friend) proved to be very successful in 2025. FADA intends to further expand this campaign throughout 2026.

However, Toppenberg explained that expanding such initiatives requires sufficient funding. As a result, FADA is actively working to secure additional financial support in order to scale up the campaign and achieve even stronger results across the island.

Ms. Toppenberg also emphasized that insurance companies can play a crucial role in these efforts. FADA has approached several insurance providers, inviting them to become active partners in the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaigns.

According to Toppenberg, this collaboration would not only benefit insurance companies but the entire community as well. “At the end of the day, we all want to get home safely,” she stressed.
