ORANJESTAD (AAN): Aruba has already experienced several serious traffic accidents during the first days of the new year 2026, resulting in deep sorrow and heartbreak for families who have tragically lost their loved ones.
In response, the Chief Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ramon Arnhem, addressed the community with a strong message, expressing his serious concern and emphasizing the personal responsibility of every citizen. He warned that reckless behavior on public roads carries serious legal consequences.
Commissioner Arnhem highlighted that these unfortunate incidents were largely caused by irresponsible actions such as speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol. On behalf of the Aruba Police Force, he made an urgent appeal to all road users to respect traffic regulations, reduce speed, avoid drinking and driving, and show consideration for others on the road.
The Chief Commissioner also announced that the Aruba Police Force will be intensifying traffic controls and stressed that enforcement will be carried out firmly. “We are here for the safety of Aruba and all our loved ones. We will remain focused on ensuring safer traffic conditions. We are all responsible for this,” Commissioner Arnhem concluded.
