The Government of Aruba, led by Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever, Prime Minister Mike Eman, and Minister of Infrastructure Rene Herde, has officially announced the opening of a public tender to select an architectural firm for the comprehensive design of the Wilhelminastraat and surrounding neighborhood revitalization project.
This initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to revitalize the center of Oranjestad, boost commerce, and transform the area into a vibrant hub that combines residential, office, retail, and culinary spaces.
The public tender invites architectural firms to submit visual design plans, from which a joint government and private sector committee will select the most creative and comprehensive proposal. The winning firm will then be responsible for developing the final design, technical specifications, and documentation necessary to execute the construction phase.
The project area covers Wilhelminastraat numbers 49/62 up to the Wilhelminastraat/Kazernestraat intersection (excluding Plaza Daniel Leo), as well as the Klipstraat/Oranjestraat zone, including Rifstraat and Schoolstraat.
According to Minister Wever, “We continue to focus on building a modern, vibrant, and sustainable Oranjestad. This public tender is a concrete step toward achieving our commitment to urban renewal.”
The project timeline includes:
- Execution period: 80 effective working days after the assignment letter.
- Work description availability: from October 17, 2025, at Dienst Openbare Werken (DOW).
- Information meeting: October 23, 2025, 10:00 AM at DOW.
- Clarification note: October 30, 2025.
- Public tender date: November 7, 2025, 11:00 AM at the DOW Director’s office.
Through this tender, the Government of Aruba reaffirms its commitment under the AVP-Futuro 2025–2028 Governance Program to revitalize downtown Oranjestad and create space for economic growth and community well-being.
