During the opening of the 2025–2026 parliamentary year, the Parliament of Aruba honored 18-year-old Richard Ri-Angelo as the first recipient of the Hala di Shoco Award.
Richard is a young entrepreneur with a big heart for his community. At just 18, he manages his own fruit shop and also works as a barber from his grandparents’ veranda. His drive and determination make him a role model for Aruba’s youth, showing that nothing is impossible with hard work and focus.
His community efforts gained recognition during Poder di Hubentud 2023, where his project allowed him to purchase gifts for all children at Casa Cuna. Richard also volunteers with the elderly at SABA and served as coordinator of the Playa Pabou camp last year. These acts reflect his values of service and compassion.
In addition to entrepreneurship and volunteer work, Richard is passionate about football and has dedicated himself to improving his health by losing weight to pursue the sport. His achievements at such a young age mark only the beginning of a promising journey.
Parliament expressed pride in Richard’s accomplishments, emphasizing the importance of young leaders like him to continue empowering Aruba’s next generation
