Young Father Killed During Police Pursuit Over Missing Rear Light
ORANJESTAD (AAN): On Sunday at approximately 5:00 AM, a police pursuit of a Toyota Vitz — reportedly driving without rear lights — ended in tragedy when more than 10 shots were fired at the vehicle in Madiki Kavel, killing the driver instantly.
The victim has been identified as Ayden CJ Lanoy, 19 years old, a young father who leaves behind a newborn baby. Ayden attended SPO Brazil, lived in Savaneta, and worked at Save a Lot in Boegoeroei. Friends describe him as a quiet, hardworking young man who recently participated in a singing festival.
Investigation Into Ayden Lanoy’s Death
According to police sources, at some point during the pursuit, Police Central ordered the patrol to stand down due to insufficient justification for the risk. The officers allegedly did not follow that order. Landsrecherche has launched an investigation and confiscated both officers’ service weapons. A friend reportedly recorded the pursuit, which may serve as key evidence.
