ORANJESTAD (AAN): The UN Permanent Representative Introduction Visit With Minister Dowers marked an important diplomatic meeting between Aruba’s government and international representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Mrs. Lise Gregoire-van Haaren, Permanent Representative-designate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations in New York, paid an introductory visit to Minister of Justice, Integration, Public Transport and Energy, Mr. drs. Arthur Dowers.
During the meeting, both parties discussed several important international developments and areas of cooperation that affect the region and the broader international community. Topics included migration challenges, regional stability, and international cooperation, highlighting the importance of collaboration between Aruba, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and international institutions.
The UN Permanent Representative Introduction Visit With Minister Dowers also provided an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic communication and coordination between Aruba and the Dutch Kingdom’s representation at the United Nations.
Mrs. Gregoire-van Haaren brings extensive experience in international diplomacy and European cooperation. Throughout her career, she has served in multiple positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, holding diplomatic roles in several major cities including The Hague, Brussels, Paris, and New York.
She has also served as Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, including during the Netherlands’ membership in the UN Security Council in 2018.
In addition to her diplomatic assignments abroad, Gregoire-van Haaren has held senior leadership positions in The Hague, including Director for the European Union and Deputy Director-General for European Cooperation.
Her extensive background in multilateral diplomacy, European relations, and international policy coordination provides a strong foundation for strengthening cooperation within the Kingdom and on the global stage through the United Nations.
Officials emphasized that the UN Permanent Representative Introduction Visit With Minister Dowers reflects the importance of maintaining close coordination between Aruba and the Dutch Kingdom’s diplomatic representation at the UN.
Such cooperation is considered essential for addressing shared global challenges while protecting the interests and international positioning of Aruba within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
