St. George’s Day 2026: Aruba Scouts Celebrate Bravery And Courage

ORANJESTAD (AAN): Annually on April 23, Scouts around the world commemorate St. George’s Day. A day that speaks not only of tradition but also of the enduring need for bravery, leadership, hope, character, and integrity in our community.

The story of St. George has been told for generations, but its true meaning goes far beyond a legend. It is a reflection on the life of a person who chose bravery over fear, service over comfort, and conviction over silence. Today, the same spirit lives in every Scout—young people who challenge themselves to stand firm for what is right, who choose kindness in a divided world, and who lead with integrity.

St. George’s Day Aruba Scouts: A Personal Reflection

For our Scouts, St. George’s Day is profoundly personal. It is a moment to reflect on the promise they make not only in words but also in actions. A promise to help others, to serve God, to protect the environment, to strengthen their community, and to grow as leaders who serve with humility and purpose.

In a world where young people face uncertainty, the message of St. George is more relevant than ever. The “dragons” they face today are not mythological creatures, but real challenges such as bullying, injustice, inequality, fear, and indifference. However, through Scouting, they are equipped with values, skills, and resilience to face these challenges with determination and purpose.

This day is not simply for remembering but rather a call to action. It is a reminder that bravery can be silent, that leadership can start with a single action, and that even the smallest act of service—helping your neighbor—can create a lasting impact.

Aruba Scouts Renew Commitment On St. George’s Day

On Saturday, our Scouts will commemorate this day by renewing their commitment to the Scout Law and Promise, participating in acts of service, and standing united in their mission to build a better community. They are not only preparing for the future; they are building the future.

We invite one and all to reflect on the meaning of St. George’s Day and to recognize the vital role that young people play in creating a more compassionate, positive, responsible community full of hope. The spirit of St. George is not limited to history but lives in every young person who chooses bravery.
