Police Fine 44 Drivers for driving at excessive speed during a traffic control operation on Wednesday night in Aruba.
Police reported that in recent days, several serious traffic accidents have been linked to high speeds. To help reduce the number of crashes and improve road safety, the Aruba Police Force (KPA) intensified speed checks across the island.
Wednesday evening, a motorized patrol unit conducted a speed control checkpoint near Seroe Tijshi. The results revealed a concerning pattern in driver behavior.
A total of 44 drivers were issued fines for exceeding the legal speed limit. The most extreme case involved a driver recorded traveling at 146 km/h — well above the posted limit.
Police emphasized that these operations are preventive measures aimed at reducing accidents and protecting the public, not just generating fines. Traffic authorities warned that similar controls will continue throughout the season to ensure safer roads for everyone.
KPA stressed that the main goal is to prevent tragedies that can result in serious injury or loss of life, and urged motorists to obey the speed limit.
