ORANJESTAD (AAN): With deep sadness but also great gratitude, Parliamentarian and former Minister of Culture Xiomara Maduro paid tribute to Mr. Norman de Palm, an important figure in film, theater, and culture in Aruba and Curaçao.
Norman de Palm was a renowned cinematographer, artist, writer, actor, and film producer who contributed to productions such as Desiree, Almacita di Desolato, and Ava & Gabriel. Born in Aruba, he later continued his cultural journey in Curaçao, where he further developed his talent from a young age.
Together with Felix de Rooy, he created works of great artistic value that gained international recognition. Beyond his professional success, Norman de Palm served as a bridge between cultures, promoting artistic exchange between Aruba and Curaçao and strengthening cultural and social ties.
He dedicated his life to enriching theater and collaborated with the Department of Culture in Aruba, inspiring young artists through programs such as Arte di Palabra and Gang di Arte.
As former Minister of Culture, Xiomara Maduro had the honor of recognizing Norman de Palm in 2023 for his valuable contributions to theater.
His vision was clear: to break boundaries, create opportunities, and unite people through culture.
“We express our deep gratitude for everything Norman achieved. His legacy will live on in every artist he inspired, in every stage where his influence is felt, and in every story that continues to be told,” Maduro stated.
Norman de Palm passed away in April 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Caribbean theater and film.
Maduro extended her condolences to his family, friends, and the artistic communities of Aruba and Curaçao, honoring his passion, dedication, and lifelong contribution to culture.
