The Government of Aruba, in collaboration with the Department of Public Works (DOW), is constructing a new wooden stairway in the Mabon neighborhood to make access easier for elderly residents. The project, which began after community feedback during the Accion di Bario initiative, is now 90% complete.
During a recent cleanup at the Mabon Complex, residents shared their concerns and suggestions with Prime Minister Mike Eman, including issues related to accessibility and waste accumulation. Following these discussions, the government decided to install a durable wooden staircase designed with wide, safe steps to accommodate seniors.
Additionally, a small dump area near the site has been sealed with stones to prevent future littering. DOW has confirmed that lighting will also be installed soon to ensure safety in the frequently used area.
The residents have expressed their gratitude to the government and Prime Minister Eman for addressing their concerns and improving mobility within their neighborhood.
