My 3 Days in Paradise: Solo-Travel, Aruba Style!

I’ve had my fair share of tropical beach vacations, but Aruba keeps calling me back—and for good reason. The crystal-clear waters, perfect mid-80s weather, fresh local food, and above all, the warm, friendly Aruban people make this island unforgettable.

Nicknamed “One Happy Island,” Aruba’s unique blend of over 90 nationalities is reflected in its food, energy, and language (Papiamento), creating an experience unlike anywhere else. Here’s a glimpse into my three-day solo adventure on this tropical gem.

Day 1: Arrival and First Impressions

After a quick taxi ride from the airport, I arrived at the brand-new St. Regis Hotel on Palm Beach—a property that’s simultaneously lush, modern, luxurious, and homey.

I started my stay with a refreshing watermelon juice in the lobby, then checked into my penthouse room before heading straight to Nuba, the hotel’s beachside restaurant. The al pastor tacos were juicy, flavorful, and the perfect start to my trip.

A few hours of sun-soaked relaxation on the beach (with a cheeky guava margarita) later, I headed to Papiamento Restaurant for dinner. Nestled in the backyard of a historic home, with a beautifully tiled pool at its center, the ambiance alone was worth the visit. I opted for a grilled steak with potatoes au gratin and vegetables, and it was nothing short of perfect—a fitting end to my first day in Aruba.

Day 2: Relaxation to the Max

My morning began with an iced latte and chocolate croissant on my balcony overlooking Palm Beach—simple pleasures done right. A quick change into comfy clothes led me to the St. Regis Spa, where I indulged in a massage and explored the cold pools, saunas, and steam rooms.

Next up was my pool-side cabana, a perfect spot for ultimate relaxation. Plush pillows, adjustable curtains, and a California King–style bed made this a slice of heaven. I snacked on a fruit plate, indulged in more Nuba tacos, and sipped guava margaritas while soaking in the sun.

Dinner that evening was at Wilhelmina Restaurant, an intimate garden setting with low lighting and lush greenery. I savored a succulent lady steak and finished with a decadent chocolate lava cake—hands down the best dining experience I had in Aruba.

Day 3: Sailing into the Sunset

I started my final day with a hearty breakfast buffet at Nuba, including eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and toast. The food at the St. Regis was consistently top-notch, from baked goods to savory dishes.

After a morning swim and reading session, I strolled down Palm Beach for a healthy lunch, grabbing an acai bowl from Eduardo’s Beach Shack, a local spot offering wraps, smoothies, poke bowls, and more.

Later, I joined a Bloody Mary mixing class at the hotel bar, learning about the Aruban twist on this classic cocktail, featuring a unique papaya hot sauce. It was both educational and delicious!

The perfect ending came with a sunset catamaran cruise, sailing along Palm Beach to a quiet, colorful cove. I sipped drinks, watched the sun sink into the horizon, and reflected on my time in One Happy Island. Back at my room, I wrapped up with room service steak frites, savoring the final moments of my Aruban getaway.

Final Thoughts

Aruba continues to exceed expectations. Between the incredible service, fresh cuisine, tropical weather, and stunning new St. Regis property, this trip reinforced why I keep returning. Solo travel on this island is not just relaxing—it’s unforgettable.
