Member of Parliament Evelyn Wever-Croes has formally filed a complaint after receiving death threats, an act considered a serious criminal offense that requires immediate reporting to authorities to protect those targeted and prevent escalation.
During her address on Monday at the public parliamentary session discussing the National Ordinance Establishing Ministries (LIM), MP Wever-Croes revealed that she had received death threats from an individual identified as Mr. Williams, who she stated is allegedly closely associated with Minister Gerlien Croes.
According to Wever-Croes, the threats were made because, in her role as a parliamentarian, she has publicly questioned Minister Croes. She detailed that the first threat was received on November 26, 2025, the same day the MEP party commemorated the passing of Betico Croes at a ceremony in Santa Cruz. On that day, Williams reportedly posted on Facebook: “Go see if there is a place for you at that ceremony.”
A second post, which Wever-Croes considers another death threat, stated:
“Put a gun to your head and shoot, then everyone will be happy that you can no longer open your mouth.”
The third message, posted later, read:
“I hope you won’t be able to stand upright for long (my end-of-year wish).”
MP Wever-Croes confirmed in Parliament that she has officially filed a complaint against Williams for issuing death threats. She also emphasized in a statement on her Facebook page that no threat will silence her or prevent her from carrying out her duties as an elected representative of the people of Aruba.
