According to MEP faction leader Evelyn Wever-Croes, the step may be taken because the minister has not yet provided a clear and transparent response regarding the matter.
The MEP faction stated that integrity and transparency are essential in governance, and that Parliament has the responsibility to oversee government actions when questions arise about the conduct of a minister.
Possible Parliamentary Investigation
MEP emphasized that a parliamentary inquiry is a strong oversight instrument available to Parliament. Its main purpose would be to establish the facts and restore public confidence in government institutions.
According to the party, the people of Aruba have the right to know all relevant facts, and government officials must act with honesty and transparency in all circumstances.
The faction indicated that the inquiry is being considered as a way to ensure accountability and clarify the situation surrounding the reported private jet travel.
