On Tuesday night, a public disturbance occurred near the Parliament building when a woman began throwing stones at vehicles traveling along LG Smith Boulevard. The incident resulted in several cars being struck by the objects, causing concerned drivers to alert the police regarding the dangerous behavior.
Personnel from CEA also observed the unfolding situation and contacted law enforcement. An Oranjestad patrol unit responded quickly to the scene. Upon arrival, officers engaged in a lengthy dialogue with the woman, who offered multiple and conflicting explanations for her actions. Her demeanor during the interaction suggested she was not in a stable state of mind at that moment.
Although the vehicles were hit by the stones, no individuals have come forward to officially report damage to their automobiles. Police officers managed to de-escalate the situation through conversation and subsequently secured the area to prevent further disturbances, ensuring safety near the government complex.
