As part of the AVP–FUTURO 2025–2028 Governing Program, which prioritizes the active renewal of San Nicolas and Oranjestad through investment and opportunity for all, Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever and Minister of Infrastructure Drs. Rene Herdé conducted a joint visit to downtown Oranjestad.
During the visit, the ministers met with Elton Arends of 360 Innovation and Harry Koeman of Oranjestad Investment Group to get an overview of ongoing projects and investments in the urban core. The goal was to provide the ministers with an integrated view of the urban revitalization process—covering infrastructure as well as economic and social activity.
Minister Wever noted that government-led projects are already underway, with more in the pipeline. “We are committed to revitalizing our cities, giving them a new face, stimulating economic activity, and creating opportunities for everyone. Renovating buildings and streets is essential to elevate our cities to a higher level of development,” he said.
The meeting underscored a key message: the Government of Aruba is determined to develop Oranjestad and San Nicolas as vibrant centers of activity, urban life, and investment opportunities.
“Revitalizing our cities is not just about infrastructure—it is an investment in our identity, our future, and the well-being of all citizens of Aruba,” Minister Wever concluded.
