DVG Issues Health Advisory Amid High Winds

The Department of Public Health (Directie Volksgezondheid, or DVG) has issued a health advisory for the community following a recent increase in wind activity across the island. Authorities warn that higher wind speeds have resulted in elevated levels of dust and airborne particles, which may pose health risks to residents.

Medical experts at DVG indicate that individuals with pre-existing conditions such as allergies, sinusitis, and asthma are particularly vulnerable. Common symptoms reported include frequent sneezing, eye irritation, dry throats, coughing, and difficulty breathing. Allergic reactions and nasal congestion have also been noted among the population.

To mitigate these effects, the DVG recommends keeping windows and doors closed during periods of strong wind. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear sunglasses to protect their eyes, and limit outdoor activities when gusts are intense. Additionally, households are encouraged to maintain cleanliness by washing hands and dusting regularly to minimize indoor particles.

Patients with respiratory ailments are urged to adhere to their prescribed treatments and keep medications accessible. Parents and caregivers are asked to pay special attention to young children and the elderly. Anyone experiencing worsening or persistent symptoms is advised to seek medical consultation immediately.

The Department of Public Health continues to monitor the climatic situation and its impact on public health. Community members are encouraged to stay updated through official DVG channels for further information and safety alerts.
