On the morning of February 27, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) in Wardacosta received a call from a Cruise Ship Near Aruba requesting medical assistance. The ship was sailing north of Aruba.
The situation involved a 76-year-old German tourist who was suffering from pneumonia. At one point, the respiratory issue also began to affect the movement of the individual’s body.
MOC personnel contacted the CITRO doctor in Curacao, who confirmed that the individual required immediate medical treatment.
The helicopter team from Wardacosta was immediately alerted and departed towards the ship to transport the patient to Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba.
Ambulance personnel were waiting at the airport to take the tourist to the hospital for further medical treatment.
