Rabbi Ahron Blasberg, director of Chabad Aruba, visited Prime Minister Mike Eman this week to celebrate his reelection and the upcoming Jewish New Year.
During the meeting, Rabbi Blasberg assisted the Prime Minister in putting on tefillin, reciting the Shema Yisroel, and sounding the shofar—rituals associated with the Jewish month of Elul, a period of spiritual reflection. A new mezuzah was also affixed to the Prime Minister’s office, symbolizing blessing and protection.
Prime Minister Eman, whose mother is Jewish, has frequently expressed pride in his Jewish heritage. He has maintained strong connections with Chabad in Aruba and abroad, including a past visit to Chabad headquarters in New York.
Chabad Aruba, under the leadership of Rabbi Blasberg and his wife, continues to provide religious services, educational programs, and community support for the island’s small Jewish population as well as Jewish visitors to Aruba.
