Aruba has proudly hosted its first-ever C.A.C. Open Water Qualifier 2026 event, marking a significant milestone in the island’s continuous development of sports. The event, which took place at Mangel Halto over the weekend, brought together athletes from 18 countries, including Aruba. This broad participation highlights Aruba’s growth as a trusted platform for international sporting events.

The initiative was made possible through the close collaboration between Panam Aquatics and the Aruba Aquatics Federation, demonstrating how international cooperation contributes to strengthening both local and regional sports infrastructure.

Minister of Sports, Ms. Gerlien Croes, expressed her satisfaction and pride in Aruba’s role as the host of such a prestigious event. She emphasized that the success of the C.A.C. Open Water Qualifier aligns with her ministry’s vision to invest in sports as an essential tool for social development, providing opportunities for youth, and positioning Aruba on the international sports map.

“We are proud to have been chosen to host an event of this caliber. This confirms that we are on the right path to further developing sports and creating opportunities for our athletes,” said Minister Croes.

The Minister also congratulated all the athletes who participated, especially those who achieved outstanding results by qualifying for the C.A.C. (Central American and Caribbean Games). Special thanks were extended to Panam Aquatics and the Aruba Aquatics Federation for their trust in Aruba as a host.

A special word of recognition went to all the volunteers and officials who made the event a total success with their commitment and dedication.

Minister Croes reaffirmed her commitment to continue attracting and facilitating international events, further strengthening Aruba’s sports ecosystem and fostering the development of local talent.
