ORANJESTAD (AAN) – The community has responded positively as Brisas del Mar Pier renovation in Savaneta officially began this morning with a ceremony attended by the Minister responsible for the Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever. This marks an important milestone for local fishermen and residents, as the pier has been widely used for fishing, landing boats, and trips to and from the reef for many years.
The renovation of Brisas del Mar Pier in Savaneta is part of the Government’s fishing sector enhancement plan under the AVP‑Futuro program. A dedicated budget has been allocated to complete this project, and future pier renovations — such as at Colony near Rodgers Beach — will follow.
The contractor selected for Brisas del Mar Pier renovation in Savaneta is Break & Build, which will ensure improved durability and new decking tailored to the needs of local fishermen.
Also present at the ceremony were representatives of Savaneta Foundation, Mrs. Nathalie Maduro of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock & Fishing for Santa Rosa, and Mr. Byron Boekhoudt, head of the Santa Rosa Fishing Section.
Authorities reminded all users that the Brisas del Mar Pier renovation in Savaneta means the pier will be temporarily closed to the public while work is underway. Community leaders and local fishers expressed congratulations and deep gratitude as the community looks forward to having the fully renovated pier soon.
