ORANJESTAD – Aruba is set to revive Baseball5 at all levels, beginning with schools, following a meeting between key sports organizations and stakeholders.
Representatives from the Aruba Baseball Association (ABBA), Aruba Softball Bond (ASB), IBiSA, World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and other local sports leaders met to discuss plans for reintroducing the sport across the island.
Baseball5, an urban version of baseball and softball that requires no equipment and can be played on a small court, was previously introduced in Aruba’s schools and sports clubs. The sport was developed by the WBSC to increase participation and make baseball and softball more accessible.
A working committee has now been established, including the Aruba Olympic Committee (COA), to coordinate the sport’s revival. The initiative will begin in schools and aims to expand Baseball5 nationally while promoting inclusion and greater participation in sports.
