The Aruba police shooting Pos Abao 2026 resulted in a fatal outcome after police officers were forced to defend themselves during a violent incident on Tuesday afternoon in Pos Abao. The event occurred around 3:10 p.m. at a residence located at Pos Abao 36-A, approximately 260 meters behind Eagle Bowling.

Police patrol units were dispatched following an urgent assistance request from the FACT Team of Respaldo, who were attending to a patient known to authorities. The individual reportedly became uncooperative and aggressive, prompting requests for police and ambulance support.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the man wielding a machete and displaying extremely aggressive behavior. Police attempted multiple times to calm the individual and ordered him to drop the weapon. Despite de-escalation efforts, the man continued to swing the machete and refused to comply.

According to police spokesperson Liliana Rasmijn, the situation escalated when the man suddenly advanced toward officers in a threatening manner. Fearing for their lives, an officer discharged his service weapon in self-defense. Neighbors reported hearing at least three gunshots during the incident.

Emergency medical services were immediately called, and due to the proximity of an ambulance post on Schotlandstraat, responders arrived quickly. The wounded man was transported to the Emergency Department of Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The deceased has been identified as Frank Miguel Henriquez, born in Aruba on August 30, 1989, aged 36. Residents in the area indicated that the man was known locally for aggressive behavior and was a patient receiving mental health support from Respaldo.

Because the incident involved a police officer, the case has been handed over to Landsrecherche for an independent investigation. The BFTO forensic team and Bureau Slachtofferhulp were also present at the scene to assist with evidence collection and victim support.

The Aruba police shooting Pos Abao 2026 remains under investigation. Authorities and DIARIO have expressed condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
