Aruba Overcomes Tough Caribbean Regional to Reach Little League World Series

Santa Cruz, Aruba’s Little League team has fought through one of the most challenging Caribbean Regionals to earn a spot at the 2025 Little League World Series in South Williamsport. The small island faced formidable competition from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Curacao, nations with highly developed Little League programs.

Aruba finished the regional with a 4-1 record, opening with a 3-0 win over the Dominican Republic and a 5-3 victory against Cuba. Their only setback came against Pariba, which handed Aruba an 8-3 loss. The team bounced back with a 2-1 win over Pabao, Willemstad, Curacao in the semifinals and clinched the championship by defeating the Dominican Republic 9-7.

“Compared to other regions, you can’t make this stuff up,” said Aruba manager Arendsz. “We have just six Little League teams on the island, yet we managed to compete with countries that have far larger programs. This experience will prepare our kids for future competitions, college opportunities, and beyond.”

Returning players, including infielder Diliano Raven, are bringing valuable experience to the team. “Last year I was more nervous, but this year I feel more comfortable,” Raven said.

Aruba now faces perhaps its toughest challenge of the summer: a matchup against Chinese Taipei, the Asia-Pacific Regional champions, at Volunteer Stadium. Manager Arendsz emphasized the team’s preparation, scouting, and pitching options, noting that Aruba is ready to compete at the highest level.

This marks Aruba’s third appearance at the Little League World Series, following prior showings in 2011 and last year, signaling that the island’s youth baseball program is steadily growing stronger on the international stage.
