Aruba beach warnings were issued near the Hyatt and Costa Linda resorts after hotel employees reported seeing one or more sharks close to shore early on Thursday, October 22, according to 24ora.
Beach police did not see further sharks
The report places the initial sightings before 8 a.m. Beach Police officers monitored the water but did not see sharks during their observation. The Aruba Mammal Foundation was contacted to help distinguish the reported animals from dolphins, and the outlet says authorities were told they were not dolphins.
Red flags were a precaution, not a closure
Red warning flags were raised at the two beaches, but neither beach was formally closed, 24ora reported. The warning advised that people entering the water did so at their own risk.
The outlet reported that some tourists entered the water around 9 a.m. and that no further sightings were reported at that point. This account describes the morning warning; it does not establish current conditions later in the day.
