ORANJESTAD (AAN): On February 8, 2026, a false bomb threat at Aruba airport created chaos as a JetBlue flight from Boston was delayed and several other flights were diverted. The incident occurred around 12:45 pm when a JetBlue Airbus A321 flight was approaching the runway at Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport.

The crew informed Aruba’s control tower of a potential threat onboard after a passenger discovered a note indicating the presence of a bomb. Despite the threat, the Aruba airport bomb threat situation was handled calmly, with no explosives found on board.

The airport’s emergency protocols were activated immediately, with police, emergency responders, and ground crew dispatched to ensure safety. The affected flight, with 189 people on board, was ordered to stop at the end of the runway, while others, including American Airlines flights, were rerouted to nearby airports like Curaçao.

At approximately 1:00 pm, Aruba’s airport declared the situation under control, and at 4:20 pm, the airport resumed normal operations. By 5:00 pm, flight arrivals returned to normal.

While the incident caused inconvenience for passengers, with many missing connections, Aruba airport bomb threat protocols were effective in preventing further escalation.
