Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) has announced a strong start to 2025, posting impressive passenger traffic growth and continued momentum in key aviation metrics for the first quarter. The performance reflects solid demand for Aruba as a preferred destination and the island’s strengthening position as a regional air travel hub.

Q1 2025 Highlights

  • Total Revenue-Generating Passengers (RGPs):
    432,937 — a 5.4% increase compared to Q1 2024
  • Total Seat Capacity:
    540,258 seats, up 2.2% year-over-year
  • Average Load Factor:
Rose 1.1 percentage points to 85.2%
  • Flight Departures:
Increased by 4.1%, signaling continued strong demand

Top Performing Markets

The United States remains Aruba’s largest and most consistent market, contributing 71% of all RGPs. U.S. growth included a 1.8% increase in seat capacity and 2.7% growth in passenger numbers.

The Latin American and Caribbean region showed robust performance, comprising 15% of RGPs and seeing a 13.1% increase in seat capacity, driven by LATAM’s Lima-Aruba and GOL’s Guarulhos-Aruba routes.

In contrast, European capacity declined by 20.2%, though load factors across all regions stayed strong—averaging above 85%. Other notable market shares included:

  • Canada: 6%
  • Europe and Dutch Caribbean: 4% each

Airline & Gateway Performance

  • Top Airlines by RGP Share:
    • JetBlue: 19%
    • American Airlines: 17%
    • Delta Air Lines: 15%
    • United Airlines: 13%
    • Copa Airlines: 4%
  • Top Gateways by Seat Capacity:
    • New York Tri-State (JFK, EWR, LGA): 21%
    • Boston: 14%
    • Toronto, Atlanta, Miami: 6% each

Looking Ahead

Projections indicate steady seat capacity in the coming months, with an expected 2% year-over-year increase, primarily from the North American and Latin American markets. This signals a continued path of gradual growth and reinforces Aruba’s strategic role in regional connectivity.

“We’re pleased with the strong start to 2025, which reflects sustained demand, steady growth, and the continued confidence of our airline partners,” said Jo-Anne Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at Aruba Airport Authority. “These results highlight Aruba’s solid position in the region and the strength of our air service network as we move into the rest of the year.”
