Aruba Airport Reports Robust Passenger Growth and Expansion Milestones in 2025

ORANJESTAD — The Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) has announced a significant 3.7% increase in passenger traffic for the first half of 2025, reflecting a continued rise in travel demand to the island. Between January and June, the airport saw 832,901 revenue-generating departing passengers, including 2,329 Business General Aviation travelers via JET-TNCA, the dedicated Fixed Base Operator (FBO).

This performance underscores Aruba’s position as a leading Caribbean travel hub and the airport’s commitment to efficient, high-quality passenger services.


🌎 Market Insights: North America Dominates, Canada Shines

The North American market remains dominant, accounting for 76% of Aruba’s total outbound traffic. Within this segment:

  • U.S. passenger numbers rose by 1%

  • Canada experienced a 12% surge

Meanwhile, Latin America represented 15.8% of total traffic, demonstrating AAA’s strategic push for market diversification. The Dutch Caribbean market grew 4.3%, while Europe held 4.1% of the share despite a minor 1% dip.


🛫 Flight Operations: Growth in Aircraft Movements and Load Factor

  • 7,280 commercial aircraft movements recorded in H1 2025 (4.0% increase YoY)

  • Average load factor rose to 85.1% from 84.8% in 2024

  • North American seat capacity increased by 1.5%

  • Latin American capacity surged by 20.1%

  • 738 general aviation movements at JET-TNCA


📍 New Airline Routes & Expanded Services

Aruba Airport now hosts 25 airlines with 45 non-stop routes to over 30 global destinations. New winter 2025–2026 highlights include:

  • American Airlines: Daily service from Chicago

  • United Airlines: Daily flights from Houston & Washington D.C. (peak winter weeks)

  • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines: Now offering 9 weekly flights from Amsterdam

  • LATAM Colombia: Seasonal route from Bogotá launching December 2025

“This performance affirms Aruba’s strong tourism demand and our partners’ strategic commitment to the island,” said Jo-Anne Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at AAA.


📈 Forecast: Passenger Traffic to Rise 6% by Year-End 2025

AAA’s revised projections suggest total passenger numbers will grow 6% by the end of 2025, surpassing initial flat growth estimates. This boost reflects effective airline partnerships, tourism demand, and ongoing infrastructure investments.


🏗️ Gateway2030 Expansion: US Terminal, eGates & New Amenities

The Gateway2030 program continues to redefine the passenger experience:

  • ✅ New U.S. Check-In Terminal opened in Q2 2025

    • Eliminates baggage recheck & secondary security screening

  • ✅ Passenger Flow Control System implemented (June 2025)

    • Manages terminal access during peak periods

  • ✅ Upgraded eGates streamline immigration

  • ✅ Taxiway rehabilitation underway for completion before winter

  • 🔜 Self-Service Bag Drop coming in November 2025

  • 🔜 Food Truck Forecourt to open in early 2026
