Jennifer Arends-Reyes, a member of Aruba’s Parliament, has decided not to accept the position of Minister Plenipotentiary in the Netherlands, choosing instead to continue serving her country locally.
Arends-Reyes expressed gratitude for being considered for the significant role, viewing it as recognition of her political and professional career. However, after careful reflection and advice, she decided her commitment lies with Aruba, where she believes she is most needed.
As leader of the AVP parliamentary faction and chairperson of key commissions related to tourism and kingdom affairs, Arends-Reyes said she is dedicated to advancing Aruba’s development and supporting important issues, including those concerning students abroad.
“I want to keep working with my colleagues and the Aruban people to realize our shared goals and achieve comprehensive progress for Aruba,” she said.
Though the decision was difficult, it reflects her deep sense of responsibility and love for the island. She also wished success to her successor in the Minister Plenipotentiary position and reaffirmed her commitment to being a strong voice for Aruba in Parliament.
