The team at Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba turned heads this season with their powerful presence in two of the island’s most inspiring sporting events—the 12 Hours of Aruba Mountain Bike Relay and the KLM Aruba Marathon. Blending athleticism with community impact, Boardwalk’s staff showcased their passion for wellness, teamwork, and inclusive support for local causes.

Full Throttle at the 12-Hour Mountain Bike Challenge

Held on scenic off-road trails, the 12 Hours of Aruba brought together over 250 mountain biking enthusiasts in a relay challenge from noon to midnight. Boardwalk fielded two dynamic teams—one male, one female—with 12 staff cyclists pedaling through the full-day challenge. Their efforts, paired with Gold-level sponsorship and free fruit popsicles for fellow athletes, made them one of the event’s most spirited contributors.

“This event perfectly matches our love for nature, fun, and fitness,” said Stephanie Rooijakkers, co-owner of Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba.

Pushing Beyond Limits at the KLM Aruba Marathon

Boardwalk’s spirit of inclusivity was on full display during the 2025 KLM Aruba Marathon, where the hotel sponsored Beyond Sports Limits—a foundation promoting sports opportunities for people with disabilities.

In a powerful display of determination, Luuk Loo completed the full marathon while pushing Disjondrick Jacobs in a wheelchair, crossing the finish line in just under 4 hours. Boardwalk’s AWG 1,000 donation helped fuel this incredible achievement, amplifying awareness for accessible sports in Aruba.

“We believe in breaking barriers,” said a Boardwalk spokesperson. “It’s about more than just sports—it’s about inclusion and empowerment.”

Team Bonding on the 5K Run

On June 7, twelve Boardwalk team members—from departments like HR, Front Desk, Maintenance, and The Coco Café—took part in the 5K Fun Run and Walk, reinforcing the hotel’s wellness-forward workplace culture. Most participants completed the run in under 30 minutes, with Segundo Muñoz Chiki finishing first among them at 24:56.

This event strengthened camaraderie and spotlighted the hotel’s dedication to healthy living and personal growth.

🏁 Building a Legacy of Action and Inclusion

Whether powering through rugged trails or uplifting athletes with disabilities, Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba continues to make an impact beyond hospitality. Their sports team exemplifies what it means to combine wellness, team building, and social responsibility in one powerful stride.
