Mónica Espinoza Cangahuala has presented Prime Minister Mike Eman with her physics doctoral thesis following her September 22 graduation at the University of Groningen, according to 24ora. The report says Eman recently congratulated her in The Hague.
Research inspired by photosynthesis
Her research examines how molecules organize into small structures that capture and transport light, inspired by plants’ use of sunlight. The report says this knowledge could contribute to future solar-cell materials; it does not announce a commercial solar technology.
Papiamento included in academic work
The thesis includes a Papiamento summary. Born in Lima, Espinoza grew up in Aruba from age five and attended Colegio Arubano before continuing her educational path in Aruba and Groningen. She now works as a data scientist in the Netherlands and collaborates with the University of Aruba on a geospatial data-science project, the source reports.
