Aruba and Dutch football club PSV have signed a Letter of Intent to explore a strategic tourism partnership, during a meeting in Eindhoven reported by 24ora on October 28.
The letter was signed by PSV commercial director Frans Janssen, Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) CEO Ronella Croes, and Minister of Tourism, Labor and Transport mr. Wendrick Cicilia.
One month of exclusivity to negotiate
According to Cicilia, as reported by 24ora, the Letter of Intent gives ATA a one-month period of exclusivity to negotiate with PSV. The goal is an agreement under which Aruba becomes an official branding partner of the club and its only tourism-destination partner.
The definitive conditions, scope and promotion rights still have to be agreed during that negotiation period. Among the possibilities under negotiation are Aruba visibility during PSV matches and possibly the Aruba brand or logo on the club’s official uniform.
A gateway to Brainport Eindhoven
Cicilia framed the value of the partnership as broader than sports advertising. He described it as a gateway to PSV’s network of companies, professionals and potential high-spending visitors, with a central link to Brainport Eindhoven, the technology region in which PSV is deeply embedded.
No final agreement has been signed. The Letter of Intent opens an exclusive one-month window in which ATA and PSV will work out whether Aruba becomes the club’s official branding and sole tourism-destination partner, and on what terms.
