A San Nicolas pickup driver was detained after motorists reported reckless driving and an alcohol test indicated a reading above the legal limit, according to DIARIO’s October 23 report.
Motorists alert police to a near collision
DIARIO describes a Sunday-night incident at about 11 p.m. Callers told police that a pickup had narrowly avoided a serious head-on collision and was continuing west through San Nicolas. They reported seeing it on Pastoor Hendrikstraat.
Officers searched the area and stopped a white single-cab pickup on that street within minutes, the outlet reported. No collision or injuries were reported in its account.
Alcohol test leads to detention
According to DIARIO, officers observed signs they associated with alcohol use and the driver cooperated with an Alco-Sensor test. The outlet said the reading exceeded Aruba’s legal limit, but did not provide a numerical result.
The driver was taken to the police station and brought before an assistant prosecutor, who ordered that he remain detained to sober up, the report said. The account does not establish a criminal conviction.
