Farewell to Django: Aruba Bids Goodbye to a Journalism Icon
26
VIEWS

A wave of emotion swept through Aurora Funeral Home as Aruba said farewell to one of its most respected journalists, Johnny “Django” Simoons. Family, friends, and former colleagues gathered in love and gratitude to honor the legacy of a man who shaped the island’s media with integrity, empathy, and unmatched passion.

Django was more than a reporter — he was a champion for truth and a guiding voice in Aruba’s journalism scene. Known for his loyalty to DIARIO, Django mentored many and remained a steady, honest presence in the field throughout his career.

His farewell was filled with touching tributes that spoke of his noble heart, unwavering dedication, and deep love for his work. Former DIARIO staff recalled his strength of character and the joy he brought to the newsroom.

Though he has passed, Django’s memory continues to inspire. His legacy will live on through future generations of journalists and in the hearts of those privileged to know him.

Rest in peace, dear Django. This is not goodbye — it’s ‘until next time.’
