Aruba Activo 2026 brought families, sports organizations and federations together at Bushiri Beach for the first edition of a community fitness festival designed to encourage a more active lifestyle.
Bushiri Beach hosted a full day of activities
The event ran from early morning into the evening and offered activities for different ages and ability levels, according to a post-event statement reported by 24ora. Organizers aimed to introduce residents to multiple sports and make daily physical activity more accessible.
Sports Minister Gerlien Croes described the community response as enthusiastic and said the first edition showed how sport can bring children, young people, adults and families together.
Sports organizations connected with the public
Federations, clubs, gyms and other sports organizations used the festival to present their disciplines, meet residents and encourage participation. The ministry said the event also highlighted the island’s sports talent, knowledge and volunteer support.
Croes thanked IBiSA, participating federations and clubs, the Believe In Yourself volunteer group, partners, stakeholders and families who took part in the day.
Organizers see room for a continuing platform
The ministry said the event’s first edition showed potential for Aruba Activo to grow as a national platform promoting sport, physical activity and wellbeing. Croes presented the initiative as a longer-term movement rather than a single event.
