The KPA staffing shortage exceeds 200 positions, with additional retirements expected to place pressure on operations, supervision and investigative experience.
Force has 420 employees against an ideal 628
The Aruba Police Force needs 628 employees to operate at its ideal level but currently has 420, according to English 24ora. The effective gap in regular policing is larger because sections created since 2011 have drawn staff from the general workforce.
Several posts remain vacant. In some cases no employees have applied, while in others candidates expressed interest but appointments have not been completed.
Retirements could remove experienced leaders
About 32 employees are projected to retire over the coming years, with 13 expected in 2029 alone. Transfers and voluntary retirements could increase those losses.
The report says every investigation department is expected to lose its section head, risking a substantial loss of experience in complex cases. Recruitment, training and timely appointments will be needed to reduce the projected gap.
