Aruba credit and tourism increased in August 2026 while total government revenue declined year over year, Central Bank figures show.
Bank Credit Expands in August
Aruba's money supply rose by Afl. 123.7 million to Afl. 7.64 billion in August 2026, according to Central Bank figures reported by NoticiaCla. Business credit increased by Afl. 82.1 million, mortgages by Afl. 14.8 million and consumer credit by Afl. 8.6 million.
Inflation Reaches 2.7 Percent
Annual inflation reached 2.7 percent in August, with transportation identified as the main contributor. The report said average annual inflation moved from 0.7 percent in July to 1.0 percent in August. No further category-by-category breakdown was provided.
Government Revenue Declines
Total government revenue was Afl. 133.5 million, or Afl. 33.9 million less than in August 2025. Tax revenue increased by Afl. 17.2 million, but that was not enough to offset a sharper decline in non-tax revenue. The Aruba credit and tourism update did not identify the non-tax streams responsible.
Tourist Arrivals Continue to Grow
Aruba received 145,750 tourists in August, 9.8 percent more than a year earlier. Latin America recorded the strongest growth at 47.8 percent, followed by Europe at 16.6 percent and North America at 1.6 percent. The figures do not by themselves indicate spending or length of stay.
