The Hospice Atardi memorial walk will return for its second edition on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The five-kilometre walk and run is being organized as part of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
A community event centred on remembrance
Hospice Atardi invited people across Aruba to take part in the event, called E Ultimo Miya, Hunto. Participants may walk or run while dedicating their steps to a loved one, to someone receiving palliative care or to a person who cannot participate because of illness, health limitations or other circumstances.
Organizers described the gathering as a public expression of remembrance, reflection and compassion rather than a competition or sponsored race. Families, friends, athletes, sports groups and other community members are welcome. Participants can receive a ribbon and race bib on which they may place a loved one’s name or a personal message.
Five-kilometre route through Cura Cabai
The route will start and finish behind Hospice Atardi. It will travel through Cura Cabai toward Brazil, continue along Caya Bernadina Growell-Kock and Mabon, pass through Noord Cura Cabai toward Savaneta, and return by way of the area near Mui-Mui supermarket.
Building awareness of palliative care
Hospice Atardi said the event is intended to encourage more open discussion in Aruba about death, palliative care and dignity at the end of life. It also aims to strengthen awareness of humane, professional and compassionate care for people in the final stage of life.
The source report said registration space was limited and the deadline was about one week away at the time of publication.
