A Marechaussee crash investigation is underway into the fatal Aruba traffic collision of September 13 because a member of the military is involved in the case. A young woman died in the crash.
Case transferred after initial police work
The Aruba Police Force began investigating immediately after the collision. Responsibility was later transferred to the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, which is conducting the inquiry under the authority of a specialized prosecutor from Aruba’s Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The Marechaussee is maintaining contact with the victim’s family through a family liaison investigator. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is communicating with the family’s lawyer while the inquiry remains active.
Forensic team examines the vehicle
A forensic team specializing in traffic collisions has been brought to Aruba as part of the investigation. Its work includes examining the technical condition of the vehicle involved.
