A Rodgers Beach boat carrying three undocumented Dominican nationals was intercepted by the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard after a report of unusual activity at sea. The vessel was drifting when Coast Guard personnel based in Savaneta went to investigate, with air support coordinated from Curaçao.
Three people found aboard drifting vessel
Authorities found three people aboard and brought the vessel to the Coast Guard support point in Savaneta for further investigation. Officials determined that all three were Dominican nationals without legal documentation.
The Coast Guard received assistance from Aruba’s Human Trafficking and Human Smuggling Unit and a K-9 team from the Aruba Police Force while conducting a detailed search of the vessel.
Search found no additional items
According to the report, officers found nothing unusual during the inspection beyond the immigration issue. The three people were transferred to Guarda Nos Costa, which will continue the required procedures together with the specialist trafficking and smuggling unit.
