The San Nicolas Pop-Up Market is marking its first anniversary after developing from a 13-vendor initiative into a monthly event with more than 60 merchants, producers and artisans in the city center.
Vendor participation expanded during the first year
The market began in September 2025 after vendors approached the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and the Primary Sector for support. Participation passed 40 vendors by November and later grew beyond 60.
Earlier reports counted nearly 70 active vendors by May 2026, while more than 50 vendors and artisans are now on a waiting list. Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Geoffrey Wever said there are plans to expand the market further.
Monthly market supports local commerce
Held at Plaza Lolita, the market brings together crafts, agricultural goods, food, drinks and other locally offered products. The stated aim is to give small businesses direct access to customers while increasing activity in central San Nicolas.
Organizers also view the monthly event as a step toward a permanent market and as part of wider efforts to revitalize San Nicolas through commerce, culture and community activity.
Anniversary edition set for September 26
The first-anniversary edition is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Plaza Lolita. The San Nicolas Pop-Up Market’s growth and anniversary plans were reported by 24ora.
