The ImSan Diabetes Center is offering dedicated support for people with diabetes while Aruba’s government works on a combined lifestyle intervention program designed to encourage healthier daily habits.
Dedicated diabetes guidance at ImSan
Health Minister Mervin Wyatt-Ras told Diario that the center was inaugurated last month at Instituto Medico San Nicolas. He said it is intended to handle diabetes cases and provide patients with closer guidance.
ImSan’s official information describes its diabetes service as individualized, continuous care delivered by a multidisciplinary team. The service includes consultation, treatment, education, foot care and dietary guidance. That broader clinical framework gives patients a single place to receive support for managing a long-term condition.
Combined lifestyle program under development
The minister also said work is continuing on GLI, the Dutch abbreviation for a combined lifestyle intervention. The program is intended to support guided choices about food, physical activity and healthier eating rather than relying on a single measure.
Wyatt-Ras said the government plans to give the initiative greater attention and will seek parliamentary support for its healthcare plans. No launch date, eligibility rules or enrollment process for the GLI program were included in the report.
