The Dutch government has made it possible for cooperation under the Aruba reform package to continue for two additional years, through the end of 2029.
Extension follows an independent review
Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands have worked under the country packages since 2021 on structural reforms involving the economy, public finances, governance and education.
According to NoticiaCla’s report on the Prinsjesdag announcement, an independent commission concluded earlier this year that more time was needed to carry out the reforms properly. The Dutch government then chose to extend the cooperation period by two years.
Funding moves into 2028 and 2029
The additional period is to be financed by moving €30.9 million from the 2027 budget into the following two years. Of that amount, €21.3 million is designated for 2028 and €9.6 million for 2029.
The decision keeps the country packages in place as the framework for reform cooperation within the Kingdom while the participating governments continue the work.
