A Rosario College staff member is asking motorists to stop parking on sidewalks near the school because blocked pedestrian routes are putting students in a potentially dangerous traffic situation.
Patricia de Palm, an internal guidance teacher and substitute school leader, raised the Rosario College safety concern as construction work changes how some students move between campuses.
Three classes are temporarily at Saint Rosa College
De Palm told 24ora that major work is underway around Rosario College while three classes are temporarily based at Saint Rosa College. Students therefore have to walk between the two locations during the morning and around midday.
Vehicles parked on the sidewalk are obstructing that route, she said. When the walkway is blocked, students have to step off the sidewalk and into the main road, where traffic is busy.
Motorists asked to keep sidewalks open
De Palm urged drivers not to stop or park on the sidewalk. She asked motorists to use the side of the road instead so students can continue walking between Saint Rosa College and Rosario College without entering the traffic lane.
