Art Rap Foundation and Charlie’s Bar will present Nací de Pie, a retrospective Charles Brouns Jr. exhibit. It opens Friday, September 18, 2026, at 7 p.m. opposite Charlie’s Bar in San Nicolas.
Exhibition traces an Aruban creative life
Curated by Nelson Gonzalez, the exhibition looks at Brouns, who was born in Aruba in 1941. After working abroad, he returned to San Nicolas in the mid-1970s, helped turn Charlie’s Bar into an artistic space, made signs and maps, and supported community campaigns.

The retrospective is part of the Let’s Brag About San Nicolas series, highlighting people and ideas that shaped the community’s cultural identity. Admission is free.
