Aruba is hosting a two-day SITA Border Technology Forum for government and tourism representatives from the Caribbean and Central America.
Forum focuses on digital travel systems
The program covers digital identity, biometrics, passenger processing, information exchange and technology intended to make airport and border operations faster and more secure. SITA provides information and communications technology used by airlines, airports and governments.
Dowers stresses people and cooperation
Justice Minister Arthur Dowers opened the forum at Embassy Suites Aruba. He said technology can strengthen border security and efficiency but must be supported by trained personnel, cooperation among agencies and effective information sharing. Organizers described the meeting as an opportunity for Aruba to exchange regional experience and review tools that may shape future travel and border control.
