Mary Joan Foundation plans to move to a larger center at Santa Cruz 154-A, where it says several cancer-support services will be available under one roof.
More services in one location
According to the foundation’s announcement, the new site is intended to include dedicated space for a psychologist, medical checks, its wig project and activities for clients. It will also house Workshop Factory, a program that plans to offer workshops on different subjects while generating funds for the foundation’s services.
The Mary Joan Foundation said the move is designed to make it easier for clients to receive practical, medical and emotional support in one place. It described that combined approach as part of its focus on the body, mind and emotional wellbeing of people facing cancer.
Foundation describes funding gap
The organization reported that it receives Afl. 5,000 a month in government subsidy while its monthly expenses total about Afl. 14,000. It also said psychological support is not covered by AZV and that it has continued using reserves during 2026.
The announcement included a fundraising campaign to help meet costs. The move itself represents a new stage for the foundation’s work in Santa Cruz; the source did not provide an opening date for the larger center.
