SV Britannia is preparing to open the 2026–27 football season with a new head coach and the ambition of winning a fourth consecutive Division Honor championship.
Club president Cedric Werleman said the reigning champions are entering the new campaign after a successful year across several levels of the organization. Maurice Escalona has taken charge of the first team as Britannia begins its latest SV Britannia title defense.
Club builds on three straight championships
Britannia’s senior team retained Aruba’s top-flight title for a third consecutive season. Werleman credited cooperation among coaches, players, parents, sponsors and other club supporters for sustaining that run.
The previous season also brought success elsewhere in the club. According to 24ora, several Britannia youth teams from the under-five level through Hoofdklasse won titles, while the women’s team also finished as champion.
New coach takes charge
The first-team group has changed ahead of the new season. Three players and one coach departed, while new players and a new coach joined the squad.
Escalona, who began playing football at a young age before moving into coaching, will lead the team during the 2026–27 campaign. The source report said a team he coached last season finished as runner-up.
Britannia has not publicly detailed its full incoming roster in the report. Match dates and the club’s opening opponent were also not provided.
Fourth title remains the target
Defending a championship after three straight wins presents a different challenge for a reshaped group. Werleman acknowledged that maintaining such a run is difficult and thanked the players who have remained committed to the club.
